OUR HISTORY

Amefia was founded in 1807. King Philippe I was an advocate for the monarchy and the people admired him for that. There was a lot of welfare and he always made decisions in favour of his citizens. He was loyal to his family and his country. After his death, his son inherited the throne. The succession to the throne is regulated through royal blood. The crown goes to the first born son of the king. King Philippe’s way of ruling was passed on generation upon generation.

Since the beginning of the country, every king has been very loyal to King Philippe I. However, at the end of 1980, under the ruling of King George, a lot of changes began due to his attempt at being more modern. He started with the import of machinery. Because of this, a lot of farmers lost their income and had to start working in the new factories, owned by the royal family. The reason why so many farmers started working in those factories was because they had to pay less taxes. Others chose to work in the mines because of the higher payload. That way they were certain they could provide for their families.

Some years later, the amount of machines increased so drastically that people started losing their jobs and were replaced by machines. Since then, the country Amefia has known  a high unemployment rate.

At the end of 2020, King George died under mysterious circumstances. To this day, not many details have been released. However the citizens have their own speculations. The biggest speculation that goes around is that the King died of an opium overdose. A drug very popular amongst citizens and tourists. Whether or not that is true, has yet to be discovered.

After the death of King George, his two twin sons Harry and Louis, blamed each other for his death. In consequence of this they could not see eye to eye regarding the future of Amefia. After many discussions they still could not find common ground. This resulted in the country being divided into two separate sides: the South and North side. Louis claimed The South side, known as a fertile land with opium crops, whereas Harry moved to The Northside, known for its high mountains and copper mines. From that day on, the country changed from a monarchy into a diarchy; a government in which power is vested in two rulers.

All those changes created havoc among the citizens. There is still a lot of discord between the two sides, regularly leading to warfare near the border. This leads to the country's culture, values and tourism being under pressure.
